KMG International, under the Rompetrol brand, purchased together with the Foundation for SMURD two intensive care beds, individually equipped with ventilators, vital signs monitoring system, consoles with injectors, infusion pumps for $ 75,000 and donated to the intensive care unit of Ploiesti County Hospital.
“The health crisis that began last year has not yet been solved, so we continue to show solidarity and demonstrate responsibility towards local communities and support medical staff in managing the pandemic. During this period, we are focusing our efforts on supporting affected sectors such as health, as well as implementing various education projects to help children in the rural areas to receive online education, to provide vocational training for young people, and to protect the environment", Iskander Abdibaitov, Chief Officer Corporate Development of KMG International.
The donated medical equipment meets all clinical requirements, provides patients in critical condition with continuous monitoring, and care at high intensive care standards. Thus, the AICU capacity at the level of Ploiesti County Hospital increased to 20 patients simultaneously.
“The pandemic situation we have faced in the last year has revealed both the need to provide frontline healthcare facilities with a sufficient number of high-performance equipment and the involvement and social responsibility of companies operating in our country. One such example is the approach demonstrated by Rompetrol, namely the donation of equipment to the Intensive Care Unit of Ploiesti County Hospital, thus increasing the technical capacity and quality of medical care provided in this hospital", said Dr. Raed Arafat, head of the Emergency Department.
At the end of 2020, Rompetrol purchased four intensive care beds with all the necessary equipment, which were donated to Constanta County Hospital and Matei Bals Hospital in Bucharest.
Also in 2020, for managing the covid-19 pandemic, KMG International through its partnerships with the Foundation for SMURD, Daruieste Aripi Association, Romanian Red Cross supported the communities of Constanta, Prahova, and Bucharest, by donating fuel for the Ambulance Service, the purchase of medical supplies (masks, gloves), medical equipment, reagents for determining the viral type (genome analysis to identify national specificity and potential genetic mutations, by the Cantacuzino Institute), a 12-bed mobile intensive care unit that can be used anywhere in the country when it is necessary to increase the capacity of the healthcare facilities, but also in situations of calamities and disasters. Also, the Group provided fuel to various NGOs for the provision of specialized medical care at patients' homes (Hospice Casa Sperantei, Daruieste Aripi Association) and the safe transportation of patients from home to hospital, for medical treatment (through the Magic Association).
